Zoro's life starts from a journey from village to village , testing the swordsmen in various dojo. Although still very young and limited experience, in some dojo he managed to defeat adult swordsman. Until he arrived to Shimotsuki Village and met with Koshiro and Kuina . In Shimotsuki Zoro said: "If the swordsman in this dojo lose, then the name of the dojo should be replaced by his name".
